On April 20, Liu Liehong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the State Council’s regular policy briefing held by the State Council Information Office that my country has built the world’s largest information and communication network. At present, the end-to-end user experience rate of my country’s fixed broadband and mobile networks has increased by about 7 times compared with five years ago.
According to data previously released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, as of the end of February this year, the mobile phone users of the three major operators, China Mobile, Telecom and China Unicom, reached 1.592 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%.
Fixed-line broadband access users reached 492 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.9%, a net increase of 8.67 million over the end of the previous year, of which 463 million were FTTH/O fiber access users, accounting for 94%. There were 450 million broadband users of 100M and above, accounting for 90.4%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from the end of last year; 8.03 million broadband users of gigabit and above, a net increase of 1.63 million compared to the end of last year.
In the first two months of this year, the cumulative mobile Internet traffic was 30.9 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 31.8%, of which mobile Internet traffic was 29.7 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 31.2%, accounting for 96% of the total traffic.
In February, the average mobile Internet access traffic per household was 10.85GB, an increase of 1.97GB over the same period of the previous year.
According to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, by the end of 2020, my country had about 170 million 5G mobile phone terminals online, and by the end of February 2021, it had increased to about 260 million.
In other words, as of that time, there were about 350 million 5G package users and 260 million 5G mobile terminals in China, which is undoubtedly the largest population in the world.
