Dalian Dayoushang Group launched a DP dual-mode cable adapter solution based on Parade products

With the popularity of the USB Type C interface, the DP interface of most laptops has been replaced by the USB Type C interface. But for desktop computers, most products still retain the traditional DP++ Display interface. Therefore, if the computer needs an external HDMI Display, it is necessary to use a DP to HDMI adapter. In response to this demand, Dalian Dayou has launched a DP dual-mode cable adapter solution based on the Parade PS8402A chip. This solution provides a dual-mode DP source, which can output both standard DP signals and TMDS signals conforming to the HDMI/DVI protocol.

On July 19, 2022, Dalian General Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary Youshang launched a DP dual-mode cable adapter solution based on Parade’s PS8402A chip .

In response to this demand, Dalian Dayou has launched a DP dual-mode cable adapter solution based on the Parade PS8402A chip. This solution provides a dual-mode DP source, which can output both standard DP signals and TMDS signals conforming to the HDMI/DVI protocol.

PS8402A is an HDMILevel Shifter/Repeater for Type 2 Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DP++) cable adapter application. It supports TMDS up to 3.0Gbpsdata rate, and integrates a jitter-tolerant TMDS receiver and a jitter-cleaning TMDS transmitter. This means the chip is able to eliminate data and clock jitter and timing skew from the TMDS input, providing the system with a compliant HDMI output with very low jitter. In addition, the PS8402A includes the I2C-over-AUX conversion and registers required for Type 2 Dual-Mode DisplayPort dual-mode adapter applications, improving system integration.

This time, Dalian Dayou is based on the DP dual-mode cable adapter solution of Parade products, which can meet the needs of DP++ to HDMI interface in daily Electronic equipment, and bring convenient and flexible use experience to the majority of users.

Core technical advantages:

• The Type 2 DP++ specification maintains the jitter standard for HDMI signal output, but relaxes the signal jitter specification at the receiving end of dual-mode DisplayPort signals, thereby simplifying the complexity of system design. The change in the signal jitter specification has significantly increased the performance requirements of DisplayPort to HDMI adapter chips. The PS8402A integrates Spectra’s mature Jitter-Cleaning technology, which allows the product to easily meet the electrical requirements of the association’s specifications.
